Delete Your Account
We're sorry to see you go. There are two ways to delete your OutTheChat account.
Fastest: delete it in the app
- Open OutTheChat and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Privacy.
- Tap Delete account, type DELETE, and confirm.
Your account is deleted immediately.
What Happens to Your Data
Permanently deleted
- Your profile: name, username, profile photo, dietary needs
- Your sign-in and email address
- Your payment handles (Venmo, Cash App, Zelle)
- Your trip memberships, follows and followers
- Your live location
- Your group chat messages and inspiration boards
- Every file you uploaded: photos, receipts, documents
- Your notification settings and push token
Kept for your friends, labelled "Deleted user"
- Trip chat messages, so the conversation still makes sense for everyone else.
- Shared expenses, so the group's balances still add up.
- Plans, notices and votes you added to shared trips.
- Past activity entries may still show the name you used.
Timing
- Deleting in the app takes effect immediately.
- Requests by email are completed within 30 days once we've confirmed the request came from you.
- Crash reports are removed automatically within 90 days, and routine backups expire on their own schedule.

Can't use the app? Request deletion by email
Fill this in and we'll open your email app with the request written for you. Please send it from the email address on your OutTheChat account so we can confirm it's you.
