We're sorry to see you go. Use this form to request deletion of your OutTheChat account and associated data.

How to Delete Your Account

  1. Fill out the form below with the email address and username associated with your OutTheChat account.
  2. Optionally, tell us whyyou're leaving — this helps us improve OutTheChat for others.
  3. Acknowledge the data deletion policy and review what data will be deleted vs. retained.
  4. Submit your request.We'll verify your identity and process your deletion request within 30 days.
  5. You'll receive a confirmation email once your account and data have been deleted.

What Happens to Your Data

Data That Will Be Permanently Deleted

  • Your account profile (name, email, username, profile photo)
  • Your payment method handles (Venmo, Cash App, Zelle info)
  • Direct messages you've sent to other users
  • Your follow/follower relationships
  • Your location history from the Live Map feature
  • Push notification tokens and preferences
  • Any trips where you are the sole member

Data That May Be Retained

  • Group chat messages:Your messages in trip group chats may be anonymized (attributed to "Deleted User") to preserve chat history for other trip members.
  • Expense records: Expense splits and payment records may be retained in anonymized form for trips with other active members, as these are shared financial records.
  • Trip contributions: Itinerary items and notice board posts you created may remain visible to other trip members but will be disassociated from your identity.

Retention Period

  • Account deletion requests are processed within 30 days of verification.
  • Crash logs and error reports containing your data are automatically deleted within 90 days.
  • Aggregated analytics data (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely.
  • We may retain certain data longer if required by law or to resolve disputes.
